Amalia LiguoriHost: Amalia was taught to knit by her Italian grandmother. 'I did some knitting as a youngster at home, mainly squares to make up into a blanket. When I was older I liked to make knitted toys and I remember knitting a Postman Pat! I went to university and my studies took over and then went onto work as a Dentist. About 10yrs ago I had a lot of pain in my hands. The consultant at the hospital told me I needed to have an operation on each hand. I was frightened of having surgery but one day, had a lightbulb moment and I tried knitting to see if it would help my hands. Within 3 weeks I had no more pain in my hands, it was like a miracle!' Amalia has continued knitting for charity ever since.

In the class, Amalia will talk about the benefits of knitting. She will discuss the charity she knits for and go on to talk about different types of wool and knitting needles.

This class gives students real motivation to knit and highlights the ‘GET BRITAIN KNITTING’ campaign.

This is a great class for students with an interest in knitting and wanting to gain a little more understanding of the basics before embarking on it as a new hobby or skill development.
